Methodist Healthcare System Institutional Review Board The Methodist Healthcare System Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a committee established to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects recruited to participate in research activities conducted under the auspices or affiliated with the Methodist Healthcare System. The IRB reviews, and has the authority to approve, require modification in, or disapprove all research activities over which it has jurisdiction, including proposed changes in previously approved human subject research. The IRB also has the authority to suspend or terminate previously approved research that is not being conducted in accordance with the IRB's requirements, or that has been associated with unexpected serious harm to subjects. *New Electronic Submissions - July 2009 The Methodist Healthcare System IRB office (or "IRB Office") is pleased to announce the adoption of the industry leading IRBNet suite of tools, bringing electronic protocol management, on-line submissions and many other important features to the Methodist Healthcare System research community.
